The Rossinver women’s organic horticulture group meets at the Organic Centre in Rossinver, Co. Leitrim on Tuesday mornings to learn from an expert garden tutor how to grow fruit vegetables and herbs organically. It is part of the ‘Growing Together’ programme, funded by the International Fund for Ireland to promote cross-border peace building. The Rossinver garden is partnered with another women’s group in Derrygonnelly, Co. Fermanagh. With additional funding from the Department of Agriculture and Food, this particular garden has extra training to develop skills for women interested in growing commercially on a small scale in the future. The women have now formed a cooperative group and are selling some of their produce in the local area.
