The Kinlough community garden started with ground preparations in October 2008 and began in earnest in March 2009. It is based on land donated by the Kinlough Development Association, close to Lough Melvin. Residents of Kinlough village and the surrounding area meet on Monday afternoons to learn from a garden tutor how to grow fruit and vegetables and have put up a polytunnel. The garden is part of the ‘Growing Together’ programme, funded by the International Fund for Ireland and is partnered with the Belleek Community garden in Co. Fermanagh. Participants take home what they grow and take part in joint cooking sessions with the Belleek gardeners and cross-border workshops.
